I've seen a lot of criticism of this phone online and this is mainly from people really haven't seen or looked at the mega 6.3 these people just simply post their personal opinions without even taking a look have the real phone I have brought samsung galaxy from a local retailer for 28000 so fantastic. the performance of the dual core processor beats many quad core processors hands down. the screen is just simply brilliant this LCD screen beats the super Amoled technology because it's much brighter more crisp and produces excellent colors. the gaming performance is really magical I've played almost all height and heavy games on this phone without a single instance a flag the battery life is absolutely awesome its last for more than a day with heavy usage and you still have about 20 percent left at the end of the day and the day is equal to 24 hoursyou get to watch 3 full length Hindi movies you can play high end games for about 2 hours you can do web surfing around 6 hours you can do phone calls for around nine hours you can read eBooks for about 13 hours.the camera on this phone beats any other phones camera it produces its crisp and stunning full high-definition video which is absolutely never seen in any of the devices it produces excellent stills has all the various modes available in samsung galaxy s4. don't think just go for itand enjoy this big small monster in your pocket

Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 – Review

Back to starting of this decade, people were a bit uncomfortable in using mobiles, which have a screen size of around 3.2’’inch to 4.0’’inch. But now, most of us are comfortable in using a 5.0’ inch mobile, approximately 1.3 – 1.4 times larger screens. So, with the elapsing time, screen size of the mobiles seems to be increasing proportionality. Keeping this to the mind, that people are increasingly loving mobiles with larger screen size Samsung has unveiled, GALAXY MEGA 6.3 a 6.3’’ inch screen mobile.
Samsung has always be the frontrunner in launching mobiles with larger screens. It has earlier done this through its GALAXY NOTE series, but the GALAXY MEGA 6.3 is much bigger than the NOTE – III , in terms of dimensions. Is, GALAXY MEGA 6.3 a Mega phone in terms of screen size or is it really Mega, even in all other major aspects like processor, software, battery, camera etc. let’s find out.

BUILD & DESIGN :-

The first thing to talk about Galaxy Mega 6.3, is its dimensions and weight. The dimensions of the device are 167.6 x 88 x 8 mm (6.60 x 3.46 x 0.31 inches) and weighs an outlandish 199g (7.02 ounce), so mega is really mega one in terms of weight. One can’t just simply hold this device with a single hand and needs both his hands to comfortably operating it. Well, we would like to remind you that it is really difficult to keep this device in normal jeans pockets.
Leaving behind the dimensions, weight and comfort while carrying this device, The Galaxy Mega 6.3 uncannily mimics the original Galaxy S 4's overall design and has similar glossy plastic chassis, checkerboard pattern on the back panel. On the front, we have a grilled earpiece at the top, below which there is a Samsung branding. To the right of earpiece we have a 1.9MP camera along with a bunch of sensors(Accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass). Below the display, we have the hardware home button, surrounded with a chrome finish and to the left we have Contextual Menu and to right Back Buttons, both being capacitive touch buttons. On the back we have a 8MP camera, single LED flash located below the camera. On the top, we have 3.5 mm headphone jack & a noise canceling mic and to the bottom, we have Charging & USB data synching port. Volume rockers are located on the left and Power button on the right side.
Finally, though this device doesn’t snugly fit in one hand but can be operated easily with two hands.

CAMERA:-

The Rear Cam is 8 MP autofocus camera supported with a Single LED flash. This cam is able to record 1080p videos at 30fps (frames per Second). The Front Cam is 1.9 MP fixed focus camera. The Camera application supports various modes like Geotagging, touch focus, face and smile detection, HDR, panorama, Continuous Shot, Best Face, Sports and Night. One can choose his favourite mode d The playback speed and resolution of videos is 720p.
One obvious benefit about using a camera on such a large device is the huge viewfinder (especially when you choose 16:9 mode, which takes images at 6MP), but we noticed this can be a double-edged sword if you're not careful; with big phones (and tablets) comes a greater chance of taking a blurry shot. Photos snapped in the daytime were much more detailed than we originally anticipated, and colors were mostly accurate, too, with some slight oversaturation in others. Low-light pictures were a mixed bag as well, most shots were a bit noisy.
DISPLAY:-

The Galaxy Mega 6.8 comes with a 6.8’’ inch SC – LCD screen, with a resolution of 720×1280 and has 233ppi (pixels per inch) pixel density. Though the display is only 720p, but its vibrant LCD makes it joyful to watch videos on this device and would be a great device for movie buffs. We never felt like we had to crank up the display's brightness , even in direct sunlight, which was a huge plus and we typically found ourselves happy keeping it at the halfway mark. Lastly, viewing angles were superb and the Brightness, Saturation levels on this are good.
We are really happy with the display on this device, taking into aspect that this device has only 233ppi.

HARDWARE & CONNECTIVITY :-

The Galaxy Mega 6.3, has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor and is clocked at a speed 1.7GHz. The processor on this device has two cores and is supported by Adreno 305 GPU for gaming. Coming to memory segment, this device has 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, out of which 5GB is available to the user. The processor and memory specifications are similar to that of Galaxy S4 mini. Though this device is a dual core one, but still it manages to perform well in all the aspects but can not say, it to be a great performer. On 5 star scale, processor on this device would be getting 3.5 stars. The scores of various benchmark tests that we performed on this device are listed at the end of the article.
This device has a 3,200mAh battery, which gives up to 17hrs, 10hrs of 2G, 3G talk time respectively. The Standby time of this device is about 420hrs and can play music up to 82hrs. The connectivity on this device include FM Radio with RDS, Bluetooth 4.0,GPS with GLONASS support, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dualband, WiFi Direct, DLNA, WiFi hotspot, 3G (HSDPA 850/ 900/ 1900/ 2100) , 2G (GSM850/900/1800/1900). Added plus are, this device comes with NFC ( Near Field Communication) and supports OTG (On-The-Go).
SOFTWARE:-

The Galaxy Mega 6.8 comes with Android 4.2.2 JellyBean with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI out of the box. Samsung has already promised that it will roll out a KitKat 4.4.2 update for this device. The home screen shows the weather widget, a Google search bar with voice search and shortcuts. You can add up to 7 home screens on this device. Other than Swipe unlock, you can use several screen lock options including, motion, face unlock, face and voice, pattern, PIN and password. Additionally, it has new features like Smart Stay, Driving Mode, Safety Assistance and Air View. You won't find any option to change the screen's touch sensitivity in this device as we found in S4 mini. Apps look normal in portrait mode but then transform into their tablet versions as soon as you throw it into landscape mode.
The drop down notification shade has quick shortcut toggles for WiFi, GPS, Sound, Screen rotation, Bluetooth, Sync and more, but you cannot customize the shortcuts. There is a brightness control bar below that, since the phone lacks a ambient light sensor auto brightness option is missing. This device doesn’t have Multi Window, S Voice and Page buddy. The phone has Smart Dual SIM feature automatically forwards calls from the phone number on SIM 2, even if a user is on the phone with SIM 1’s number. The SIM card manager in the settings lets you enable the Smart Dual SIM feature (though this feature doesn’t work with all carriers).
The phone comes with several pre-installed apps. The utility apps include, Calculator, Clock, Gallery, My Files, Memo, Group Play and Voice Recorder. The Google apps include, Chrome, Google Search, Google+, Google Maps, Google Talk, Hangouts, Voice Search and YouTube.

VERDICT:-

The Galaxy Mega 6.3,is a very solid mid-range device, but the phone's make-or-break trait is -- the size. If you prefer the ability to use your smartphone one- handed most of the time, you're not going to have a satisfactory experience and we would love to see the option of S - Pen on such a large screen device, but it’s absence is really going to effect the device’s success in the market.
The pros of this device are Larger battery, Upgradable to Kikat, Presence of NFC which make us to pitch for this device, but having LCD Screen for display, lower camera (at this price point) are the cons for this device.

Touchscreen

Touchscreen allows you to interact directly using your fingers with what is displayed on the screen, rather than with buttons of your mobile phone. It is usually categorized into two types: Resistive and Capacitive.

Resistive touchscreens are made of several layers and need to be pressed to perform an action and hence are not as seamless as capacitive touchscreens. Resistive touchscreens are sturdier as compared to capacitive touchscreens.

Capacitive touchscreens don't require the user to press hard to initiate an action; a light swipe across the screen usually produces the desired action. They also support multi-touch and are usually considered better than the resistive touchscreens by the users.
