Battery Life:

Battery will be upto 12 hours and the battery is rechargable.

The very attractive thing about this product is it's design. It looks fantastic when we carry it. All SONY company products are attractive. The camera is very small in width. So...one can carry it very easily in hand.

The image quality of the pics is as good as you can expect with Carl Zeiss lenses. The battery life is excellent when used for pictures alone, but videoing drains the power right down. The design too is not very appealing. The design itself says that it has been built for work, not looks. The red eye reduction works pretty well and thus, photoshopping can be kept to a minimum before uploading display pics. The durability is decent enough for a sub 10k range camera. Go for it if you value your camera and don't use it everyday.

The sony cybershot DSC WX 60 is an essential everyday camera that comes at a reasonable price.
Pros :
1. Exmor R cmos sensor.
2. Carl Zeiss lens.
3. Has a variety of a shooting modes and scene selections.
4. 3D images
5. Battery life is great. Atleast 200 shots.
6. Flash quality and night mode are suprisingly better than what i expected.
7. Face detection is awesome.
8. Very compact. Fits into your jean pocket without much fuss, if you do not use a pouch.

Cons:
1. The Image capture button and the attached drag type zoom control is a little fragile. I bought it in October 2013. The controls are still good , but it does seems a little fragile when you touch.

Overall, a great buy for everyday use and for people like me for whom the main use is for creating good facebook profile pics!!!!

USB

USB connectors are used for connecting cameras with other electronic devices such as TVs, laptops, Printers, tablets, disk drives and network adapters.

Range: Presently there are USB 1.0, USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 available in standard laptops. USB 3.0 reduces power consumption and provides faster data transmission rates as compared to USB 1.0 and USB 2.0.

Micro USB, Hi-speed USB
Exposure Control
ISO Sensitivity

ISO Sensitivity

ISO refers to sensitivity of the image sensor to light. ISO setting allows you to easily select the correct sensitivity, to get the best image under difficult conditions.

Lower ISO setting is good when there is adequate light available. A higher ISO setting is required while taking images in the dark. For instance, ISO 100 would be used in bright sunlight, while ISO 400 or above would be used in low-light conditions for greater sensitivity.

Range: ISO sensitivity for digital cameras normally lies between 100 and 3200.

Auto, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, 3200, 6400, 12800
Exposure Metering System

Exposure Metering System

Exposure metering system refers to the way in which cameras determines the exposure i.e. the total amount of light allowed to fall on the image sensor during the process of taking a photograph.

Multi-zone metering mode is also called matrix, evaluative, honeycomb, segment metering, or esp (electro selective pattern) metering and is the standard metering setting on many cameras. In this setting, the camera measures the light intensity in several points in the scene, and then combines the results to find the settings for the best exposure.

Multi Pattern, Center Weighted, Spot
Minimum Shutter Speed

Minimum Shutter Speed

Minimum shutter speed is the fastest shutter speed a camera can achieve. It is used to take sharp photographs of moderately fast subjects under normal lighting conditions.

Range: Minimum shutter speed for a standard camera lies between 1/6000 s to 1/1200 s.

4 sec
Maximum Shutter Speed

Maximum Shutter Speed

Maximum shutter speed is the slowest shutter speed a camera can achieve. It is used for taking sharp photographs of immobile subjects under bad lighting conditions with a tripod-supported camera.

Range: Maximum shutter speed for a standard camera lies between 1/15 s to 1 s.

1/ 1600 sec
Shooting Modes

Shooting Modes

To have better control over your photographs, you can use different shooting modes offered in digital cameras - Auto Mode, Scene Mode, Movie Mode, Smart Portrait Mode, Sports Mode etc.

Auto mode combines the technologies of Scene Recognition and Face Detection, automatically determining the optimized settings for different scenes to ensure that every shot is perfect, regardless of the shooting environment.

Action or sports modes increase ISO and use a faster shutter speed to capture action whereas Landscape modes use a small aperture to gain depth of field.

Effective Pixels

Effective Pixels

A Megapixel refer to a million pixels, which are dots of color that make up the clarity and definition of a photograph. A higher megapixels (MP) camera produces a higher resolution and more detailed image for you.

A higher MP camera doesn't necessarily translate into a higher quality image, other factors like image processing and sensors also play a role.

Range: Camera megapixels vary from 6 MP to 20 MP for standard cameras.

16.2 Mega Pixels
Auto Focus

Auto Focus

Through auto focus, camera will automatically identify the subject and make the necessary adjustments to get the best focus making it easier for the photographer. You don't have to make any adjustment manually to get the best focus.

Center Weighted AF
Digital Zoom

Digital Zoom

Digital zoom is a digital process which simply 'enlarges' a part of the picture (subject), without bringing it 'closer'. Digital zoom is accomplished by cropping an image down to a centered area with the same aspect ratio as the original.

It is accomplished electronically, with no adjustment of the camera's optics, and no optical resolution is gained in the process. It results in loss of image quality.

32x
Optical Zoom

Optical Zoom

Optical zoom magnifies an image, bringing the subject closer while preserving the image quality. Optical zoom allows you to capture a more telescopic or wide-angle setting. Higher the optical zoom, better it is.

Range: Optical zoom lies between 4x to 21x for standard cameras.

8x
Sensor Type/Size

Sensor Type/Size

An image sensor is a device that converts an optical image into an electronic signal. Most of the cameras available in the market are equipped with a CCD sensor or a CMOS sensor.

Each has unique strengths and weaknesses giving advantages in different applications. Neither is categorically superior to the other, although vendors selling only one technology usually claim otherwise.

Exmor R CMOS, 1/2.3 inch
Focal Length

Focal Length

The focal length (f value) is the distance, in mm, from the center of the lens to the focal point where the image is produced. Raising the f value magnifies the subject and shrinks the field of view (telescopic), while lowering the value shrinks the subject and enlarges the field of view (wide).

Range: The f value varies from camera to camera and differs for various shooting modes.

4.5 - 36 mm (35 mm Equivalent to 25 - 200 mm)
Flash
Flash Range

Flash Range

Flash Range is the effective distance the flash light can illuminate the subject. Most digital cameras that have built-in flash are effective to about 12 to 15 feet. It varies by brand so check the specifications carefully.

0.2 - 4.2 m (W), 1.5 m - 2.2 m (T)
Built in Flash

Built in Flash

Most of the entry level digital cameras come with a built-in-flash. A built in flash is important for taking shots such as indoor shots and evening shots when there isn't much light.

If you're buying a compact affordable camera then you should ensure you get a built-in-flash. Many higher end cameras do not come with built-in flashes and instead provide a hot shoe onto which you can add an external flash.

Red Eye Reduction

Red Eye Reduction

The red eye effect in photography is the common appearance of red pupils in color photographs of eyes. It occurs while using a photographic flash very close to camera lens in ambient low light.

Many digital cameras come equipped with automatic red eye reduction features to make necessary adjustments and prevent the appearance of red pupils in photos.

Continuous Shooting

Continuous Shooting

Continuous shooting operates when the shutter button is held down, several rapid-fire shots are taken in one motion. This feature is very useful for fast-moving action and you will find the feature on many of the value range cameras.

Face Detection

Face Detection

Face detection or recognition has become a popular feature of digital cameras. It helps the camera to identify the faces in shots and make the necessary adjustments and focus to ensure the best shot of the object. It detects facial features and ignores anything else, such as buildings, trees and bodies.
