âShop. Explore. Stay connectedâ
The Galaxy Tab 3 follows the traditional Samsung design which all of you are familiar with. One would not call it an awesome design but it is not that bad either. It is built primarily with plastic and that does feel cheap. But anyway the back glossy plastic material can withstand some amount of rough use. So there is no need to worry if it falls from your hands accidentally one or two times. Being said that donât drop the device to check whether itâs true or not. You can also see a silver coating running through the edges. The build quality of this device is pretty good. Anyway you cannot compare this device with the premium design of iPad mini or even the Nexus 7. There is a Samsung logo in the top and at the bottom you can see home button along with two capacitive buttons on either side. Below that there is the micro USB port and two speaker grilles. Here we have got another tablet with speakers at the bottom which I do not like at all. If you want to watch movies or play games without headset in landscape mode most probably you will cover those speakers obstructing the sound. This 7 inch device fits comfortably in our hands and it is 44g lighter than the previous Tab 2. Totally Samsung has done a pretty good job with a nice build quality but this is not what you would call an eye catching design.
This is one part in which you will be definitely disappointed. Under the hood Tab 3 sports a 1.2 GHz dual core processor. Yeah you read it correctly! In this modern time of quad core processors and clock speeds above 2 GHz all they can come up was this. Be prepared to hear another bad news. This device comes with a RAM of only 1 GB. Can you believe it! Previous year when they introduced Tab 2 it had almost the same specs and now after one year when competition increased they fail to show their best. If you love Samsung there is no one stopping you from buying this. The processor and RAM are good enough to meet almost all your requirements but it canât even keep up with first generation Nexus 7!
Tab 3 comes with android jellybean, 4.1.2 to be specific. Since android 4.4 has been made available to Nexus devices you cannot call Tab 3 a latest device in terms of software. But when you compare this with other android tablets, then it can be considered modern. It also runs Samsungâs skin on top of android. The interface is very similar to that of high end Samsung phones. Once you use it you can decide whether you want pure android or this one. Multitasking is done by long pressing the home button which opens the list of apps open and you can swipe it left or right to close that. There was no problem with multitasking or opening and switching between apps. But once you start to play games with high end graphics, the signs of lagging begin to appear. This is where the dual core processor of this device will disappoint you. So beware if you are a game lover. Other than that there is no problem with the performance of this 7 inch tablet.
This is yet another drawback of the Galaxy Tab 3. It is equipped with a 600 x 1024 resolution LCD IPS display which has a pixel density of 169 ppi. Can this come anywhere close to its competitor Nexus 7 which packs a full HD display with a pixel density of 323 ppi. Anyway the viewing angles are pretty good but not terrific. Colors are not so vivid and clear. Everything seems unpleasant, especially if you are used to displays like that of Nexus 7.
I have always disliked the idea of taking pictures with a tablet. Its mostly because of the fact that almost all the tablets out there equips a camera which is not at all capable of taking even average photos. This camera is no exception. Tab 3 features a 3.2 MP rear camera and a 1.3 MP front camera. It does not have any flash which is all right. But what is not right is the quality of the picture it takes. You will not get any decent shots using this camera. The pictures look lifeless and sometimes you will be left with blurred images also. Anyway the camera app is pretty good and comes with some modes in which you can take photos such as panorama. But what is its use if you cannot even take decent photos.
Tab 3 comes with a 4000 mAh Li-Ion battery which is non-removable. The battery life is just right for everyday use. For normal users with average use this device will last for 2 days with a single charge which is pretty awesome. But donât expect it to last like that if you watch movies at high brightness levels or surf net for a long time or play high graphics games. However the battery in this device will not disappoint you.
There is no other way to say this. The 7 inch Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 will not keep you happy. The only nice thing to say about this device is its build quality and the traditional Samsung design. Outdates specs, low resolution screen and a bad camera makes this tablet a loser when compared with Nexus 7. But what I canât believe is the price. Even if this comes with outdated specs it still costs almost same as Nexus 7. Even after hearing all this if you want to test Tab 3 then go ahead and buy one but keep in mind that with the same price you can get Nexus 7 which is far ahead in performance, display and almost everything :)
Samsung Galaxy tab3 311 is a perfect example of affordable quality technology.
DESIGN & DISPLAY- Thin like paper, the tab has a screen size of 8inch with an IPS LCD display and pixel density of 189ppi which is not amazing but provides decent picture quality. The back cover is plastic which may be seemingly cheap but also gives a tough edge to the device ensuring it wont break to pieces in one fall.
SOFTWARE- The tab runs a 4.2 Jelly Bean which may seem outdated now with 4.4 in the market. Nevertheless the software is good enough to enable you to play high quality games. Owning a samsung product also gives you the pleasure to access the samsung store from where you can extract various apps and games.
PERFORMANCE- The tab has a 1.5Ghz dual core Exynos 4212 processor with 1.5GB of RAM. The processor sadly is not good enough to hold the tab together and lags are frequently seen. The tab scored 4705 in Quadrant Benchmark which is reasonably fine in comparison to Nexus 7 which scored 3649.
CAMERA- The tab has a primary camera of 5nmegapixels and a secondary camera of 1.3 megapixels. The camera struggles to capture good images in lowlight situations as there is no flash. Also the 5mpx camera barely accounts for amazing pictures but it scrapes through with decent ones provided there is proper lighting.
BATTERY LIFE- Now that is one arena where the tab excels with a silicon 4450mAh battery which may last upto 2 days with moderate usage.
CONNECTIVITY AND STORAGE- The tab supports 3G and wifi which is great. It has an internal storage of 16GB which can be expanded upto 64GB
The tab does not have out of this world features but is decent for light use. Along with the tab comes the Samsung quality and trust. It is for people who want a good big display and easy gaming experience. We cannot take away the fact that movie watching experience on this tab is good. One must check out the competitors iPad Mini and Nexus 7 before going for this product.
I hope the review was helpful. :)

Buingiq shoppers!!! The Samsung's tab portal is now updated by the latest galaxy tab 3... Since Samsung has kept with its numbering system of this tab. No wonder it has kept various versions of this tab. Viz wifi only and with gsm support for 3g.
DISPLAY: The tablet display is an ordinary TFT display though it maintains a 189ppi pixel density which is fair enough given the size of the tablet. Score: 3/5
Operating system: the tab runs on the jelly bean version of android. NO latest news whether Samsung is going to update it to kitkat or android L..score:3/5
Camera sector: This tab hosts an ordinary 5 mp shooter. The camera is an autofocus camera. The video recorder takes 30fps videos at 720p hd... Camera does not perform well in low light conditions
Cpu/gpu: The Tab3 has the homegrown Samsung exynos cpu. It is a dual core cpu and adreno 305 gpu. It can run hd games though latest hd entrants might face a jitter.
Conclusion: Though the tab seems to be a very good computing experience. But at this current time, there are many other alternatives provided by Samsung itself.Galaxy grand 2, s3 mini, s4 mini. Etc
This Samsung Tab is a bit higher on the price but does not provide very extraordinary features.
Battery: Lasts maximum for a day if used to capacity
Display: Do not expect very polished designs and sleek finishes as design has never been a forte of Samsung
Storage Capacity: It is line with other tablets of a similar price range. Nothing fancy.
General Functioning: The good thing about Samsung tablets is their robust functioning, which does not waiver even if you are operating multiple apps simultaneously. I would rate the performance of the tablet really high and that may be one thing which might over shadow its other shortcomings.
You can compare with Google Nexus 7 C 2013 tablet which also offers a tablet in this price range. Expect to get better OS in Google tabs, though.
The tablet market has been overcrowded by so many tablets that making a choice is hard. Samsung has wide number of tablets from 14k to top notch newly released pro series tab.
According to me a tablet of 7.9 to 8.9 inches are a perfect package offering both screen estate and portability. The tab 3 has a 8inch display sporting a resolution of 1200X800 pixels. The resolution is not the best in class and sharpness is OK-ish
Though being a avg display the colours and viewing angles are good. We can enjoy reading books and some casual movie watching. The speakers are good and located in bottom near the charging port.
It has a 2 slots on the left side. One for microsim and other takes in a sad card for expansion. The tablet can be used for calling.
In camera the tab 3 comes with a moderate 5 mp camera taking good pics when in broad daylight. Otherwise it's not a real camera and just gets the job done. The front facing camera is of 1.9 mp and can be good for some selfie and video calling.
The performance lags sometimes due to Samsung's heavy skin on the Android Os.
It's great for watching videos, reading books and casual gaming. They is adequate ram of 1.5 gb. The people which like taking they media along with them will have no problem as the tab has 16 gb of internal storage of which 10 gb is usable. Users can expand they storage using sd card. OTG is also supported.
Battery has been great and can easily last 2 days of moderate usage., maybe more depending on your usage.
The tab is great but a good alternative will be nexus 7(2013).
Tab 3 is rumoured to get its kitkat update soon. Serious readers can consider Amazon Kindle.
